Overview
About This Fishery
Uvas Reservoir is tucked into the hills west of Morgan Hill, surrounded by a 626-acre county park. It's considered a hidden gem among South Bay anglers — when water levels are up, Uvas can rival any reservoir in the county for both bass numbers and size.
No motorized boats are allowed, making this a peaceful spot favored by kayak anglers and bank fishermen. The lack of boat traffic means fish see less pressure here than at Calero or Coyote Lake. The dam area holds trout in cooler months, brushy creek inlets draw panfish, and the weed lines produce bass all season long.
Uvas is officially catch-and-release only. No motors, no live bait. Bring kayaks, float tubes, or good boots and be prepared to work the banks.
What's in the Water
Target Species
The star of the show. When the lake is full, bass fishing here is exceptional — fish near rocks, weeds, and submerged structure.
Strong population, especially in coves. Small jigs and grubs around submerged brush and timber.
Abundant in the shallows near the creek inlet. Great for light tackle or introducing kids to the sport.
Patrol depths near the dam in the evenings. Nightcrawlers and cut bait are proven producers.
